Went to lot one to catch the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with Justin (from OG 27) today. It was a great movie, many life lessons learnt. Justin rates 5 stars. I rate 4.5 stars. The 0.5 stars are not given because I feel that there were too many kissing scenes of Benjamin and Daisy. Also because there was use of vulgarity by kid Benjamin at last part of the movie.
Spoiler alertOn the day that Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being born an old man who was diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth, Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, with Benjamin sending postcards and Daisy sending letters. Reconnecting in their forties, when in age they finally match up, Benjamin and Daisy started their serious relationship. As Caroline reads on, she finds out that Benjamin is her biological father. Although taken aback, she continues to flip through the pages and she finds herself some birthday cards by Benjamin for her every birthday after the age of one. That was just a quick spoiler. Very touching movie that makes you laugh, cry, think and ponder on life. We don't treasure something until we really lose it. As Benjamin grows younger, people around him starts dying. And he has to learn to let go of the people he used to treasure.
"As we grow, we cling onto things. But one day, we'll have to let it go." - Captain Mike
